Porsche PSCB to reduce brake dust by 90%

Most brake discs that determine the braking performance of a car are made of cast iron. In the case of high-end supercars, there is a brake made from carbon-based "Carbon Ceramic," which has a high option price of more than 10 million won.

To bridge the gap between the two materials, 'Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB)' has been developed in a long study. The brakes are brakes with "Tungsten Carbide" special layer coatings on cast iron brake rotors, which can benefit from their performance and efficiency.

The brake rotor, which glitters by applying a special coating, is 10 percent tougher and boasts 30 percent longer durability. Above all, the cause of the blackening of the wheel has been reduced by as much as 90 percent of the brake dust, making it easier. The first PSC brakes to be applied to Porsche Cayenne are equipped with disc brakes of 415mm front and 365mm rear wheels, helping to reduce the braking distance of approximately 2m from 250km/h to braking.

PSC brakes are applied by default to the Caien Turbo and are available for option pricing (Korea) of 4.2 million won for vehicles with wheels of 20 inches or more selected on the base models, Caien and Caien S. Porsche will offer PSC brake options to all of Porsche's vehicles, starting with the new Cayenne.
