The minivan is not very popular in the Korea market, but its interest is significant because it has few sales cars. The market is divided into domestic and imported cars. Domestic minivans that dominate the price merit and efficiency of the diesel are monopolizing the market. The import minivan is the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Siena. It is not expensive because it is equipped with a large displacement gasoline engine and the price is higher than that of a domestic car. Still, the imported minivans are recognized for their merit and are sold steadily.


Honda's new Odyssey is a 5th generation model. In Korea, history is not so long since the beginning of 2012. Domestic competition with Toyota Sienna. Home of minivans Odyssey is dominant in the United States, but Siena is dominant in Korea. While Sienna seems special by emphasizing luxurious sensibility, Odyssey is good and practical, giving priority to practicality. It was not enough to attract people who wanted something special for imported cars.


The new Odyssey emphasized the luxurious aspect. The feeling that something is different is stronger than before. Unlike the rustic old look, it has a sophisticated atmosphere. The design of the unconventional Honda has recently come to an orderly stage, and it has been well incorporated into the Odyssey. The back waist line that goes back from the C filler is also implemented in this generation, continuing Odyssey's identity.


The interior is completely new and much more luxurious than before. It looks complicated because it has many elements, but it gets used quickly. It would be better to reduce the size of the gauge and increase the display, but that is enough for a car. I feel sorry for the instrument panel, the center fisheye display is blown away. It has a high resolution and a lot of menus just like a tablet. Especially, it has excellent connectivity with mobile devices. The functions contained in it are hard to count. The minivan is also important in the operability and functionality of the driver's seat, but rather in the rear space.









It is a minivan that the family sitting behind should be comfortable and happy. First place placement. The second row consisted of two seats, and the third row consisted of three seats. Two rows are easy to seat, and both head and knee space are ample. The two columns are unique in their use. Moves forward and back as well as left and right. It is different from the three-row seven-seater SUV. The third row, too, can not follow the minivan. The length is 5.2m and the trunk space is relaxed even if three rows are arranged. There is no big load because you put it deeply to the bottom. The third row is not electric, but it can be stored in the trunk space without pulling the string pulled out from the backrest. I need to remove the sheet to use the bottom of the two rows, but I think it will be a while. The storage space is incalculable. It is enough to see that all the space where the gap is created is treated as a storage space.


Honda often introduces quirky ideas, but he also puts a special device on Odyssey to take advantage of the 'family car'. The cabin watch uses the camera on the ceiling to display rows 2 and 3 on the dashboard monitor. It is good to look at the condition of the back seat children. Normally I try to mount a reflective mirror separately (this mirror is still attached), and Honda came up with a new way. The tied function is the cabin torque. The front and rear passengers can communicate with each other using a microphone and a speaker attached to the car. It was also in the previous generation, but it was not introduced in Korea.


The engine that can be both a good and a disadvantage is the gasoline 3.5L V6. It is a burden to think about fuel economy, but it is not a bad choice if you take quietness or soft response. The transmission has 10 steps. The gear was buttoned and centered on the pace. If you do not have information about cars, you might be looking for a long time. The maximum output is 284 horsepower, which is not so low, but the maximum torque is 36.2kg · m, which is a moderate level. Even if I step on the accelerator pedal, it tastes less. It speeds up smoothly and steadily. Shifts smoothly over each end and faster than expected. Over 2 tons of weight is also a factor that hinders flying movements. However, I do not think it is lacking in daily driving. When the transmission is placed in the S position, it runs at a speed of 3000 rpm. If you are not satisfied with this, you can use the paddle shift. If you test it alone on an ambitious night, there will be few people who will drive your family with this car and enjoy the unreasonable sports driving.


When the body is longer than 5m, it shows a slight hovering in a sudden change of posture. The time lag behind the movement of the bangs is remarkable. I still maintain good posture. In the curve, the driver does not get pushed out of the way. You should not expect fuel economy. I have driven up to 14km on 1L through regular speeding on highway, but in general I stay at 6 ~ 9km. If you turn on the Eco mode, you can increase the fuel efficiency a little more.









The driver assistant was also full. Lane departure and blind spot warning devices as well as lane keeping equipment. If you turn on the adaptive cruise control and operate the lane-keeping device, the car will run. Even curves with large curvature follow the lane well. It relieves the driver's fatigue even if it is not completely self-driving.
